Sippy Cup
After many weeks of trying to get Emily to drink out of a sippy cup she finally did last night! Today she drank the whole amount!!! Yea!!!
She has been a sick little girl this past week. She ran a high fever and has not felt good at all. She went 11 months before needing her first antibiotic. She spent yesterday and today catching up on all the sleep she missed the last few days but she is now on the mend. We are so thankful that she is feeling better.
We hope you all have had a great 2007. We have had such a blast watching Emily thru her first year of life. We are looking forward to 2008!!!!

First Christmas
Emily's first Christmas was spent at her Grandmother's house. She dressed up in her santa outfit and hat and had a great time. She got lots of new toys and has been enjoying them!

Here's Joe's sister Leslie with her two dogs Maddie and Shug:

Talking on the phone
I had to put this picture on here this morning. Emily has two play phones in her toy box and over the last few weeks Joe and I would pick up one of the phones and put it to our ear and talk on it and then put it to Emily's ear. Well this morning I watched her put the phone to her ear and jabber away. It was so cute! I could only get the back of her head because if she sees the camera she comes crawling to me wanting to play with it:
Right after I snapped this photo she dropped the phone and came crawling to me to play with the camera:

Christmas Cheer
If you need a laugh click on the link below. It's a dance that Joe, my brother Robert, my brother-in-law Nathan, and my dad did today. I think they did a great job!

Little Helper
I haven't posted a blog in a while because it's been so crazy here. Emily and I had to stay several extra days in Montgomery after Thanksgiving because our heater went out. When the part finally came in and we got it fixed I had a cold and ended up sleeping on the couch for over a week because I coughed all night long . . . so I mainly did what I could just to exist during the day and it took a while to get my life back in order after being gone for a week. I love going to visit people but I feel so "out of sorts" when I get home because everything isn't in order in my life : )
So things are starting to settle down a bit. Emily had her tear duct procedure done on Tuesday, Dec 4th and did great. We have to put eyedrops in her eyes for a week but I could already tell a difference in her eye when she woke up Wednesday morning and her eye wasn't either stuck shut or had a bunch of gunk in it that I had to clean out. Her eyelashes are actually dry now! She did so well that by the time we got home you couldn't even tell she had anesthesia. She played and tried to get into everything just like normal. That afternoon Joe installed some drawer stoppers to keep Emily from opening the cabinets. She of course had to help:
Then this morning I tried to get some pictures of her in a pretty smocked Christmas dress that my mom had made and she got mad at me when I took her comb and brush away from her:
She was much happier when I gave them back to her:
So her picture today is with the comb and brush in her hand:
As you can see in the picture we have a very small Christmas tree this year. With our new furniture there is no room in the living room to put our tree so I went and bought this small one and put some ornaments on it.

Sleeping in the car
Remember the good old days when we were kids when we could lay out in the back seat and take a nap on long car rides? We could sleep in the floorboard or up in the back window if we wanted . . . those days are long gone. Now kids have to fall asleep in weird positions in their car seats (which I know is much safer). I crack up everytime I see this picture my sister took of her kids on their way home from Auburn:
When we were little my dad would take a piece of plywood and place it in the back of our HUGE car and put a small mattress and sheets, blankets, and pillows for us and we would have a regular slumber party in the back seat while he drove the family to Mississippi to see my grandparents!

Emily and her toys
Emily loves to crawl around now with multiple toys in her hands. Check her out in this video below. You can hear Bud barking in the background:

I also had to get this picture of her today in her hat and jacket. It was so windy today so it was the first time she got to use this hat that I LOVE! It was Sawyer's hat last year and I loved it so much that Michelle passed it down to Emily. She looks like she is ready to go skiing instead of grocery shopping!

Trying out new food
We've been trying some table food with Emily the last few days. So far she has tried pears, bananas, carrots, english peas, and green beans. Each day I try to let her try a couple of pieces. It takes her FOREVER to chew it up and sometimes she never swallows it but just keeps accumulating it in her cheeks. But she has become less interested in baby food so I guess this is the next thing to try! She actually tried a piece of Bud's dog food the other night!!!! Thankfully I got to her before she tried to chew and swallow.

Trick or Treat
Last night Emily and I greeted Trick or Treaters as they came to the door. Emily mainly just stared at the kids but she had a good time playing in between guests. The cutest outfit of the night (besides Emily's of course) was a puppy dog dressed up like a chicken:

I got the dress back today that I smocked. The lady that taught me how to smock put the dress together for me. I'm going to have her 9 month pictures taken in it. It's a little big on her but that just means she can wear it longer!

Bud and Emily Updates
Emily and Bud both had doctor appointments this past week. But got his teeth cleaned on Thursday so he had to be sedated for the procedure. He did fine. We have to continue his antibiotics for the week due to the bacteria in his mouth but the vet said all looked good. He has a couple of cavities on his back teeth but on dogs you just leave those alone. We also have some doggie toothpaste we have to use now to brush Bud's teeth . . . fun times!
Emily went to the doctor on Friday for her 9 month checkup. She is 28 1/4 inches long and 15 lbs 14 oz. She is doing well! I thought we were going to go to the doctor for the first time and not get any shots but she got her flu shot. She did well though and had no effects from it so that is great. She is going on Monday to an eye doctor for them to check out her clogged tear duct.

Hodge Podge
Tonight I'm posting a hodge podge of pictures. I was going thru my pictures folder on my PC and found some I forgot were on there. First off though . . . .Emily pulled up to a standing position all by herself today! I grabbed the camera right before she fell.

Here is a picture of Joe that I don't remember taking. Apparently I was playing around with the black and white feature:
Here is a picture of Joe and his best friend Bob. They've been friends since Joe was 6. Joe thinks this picture was taken in 1991.
This was our first Christmas together when we were dating. This was taken in 1994 . . . we looked so young!!!
Here is a picture I found of my Granny B's brothers and sisters. Granny B is my mom's mom. My great-grandmother had 15 children . . . 5 "singles" and 5 sets of twins!!!! Oh my! One set of twins only lived for a very short time (maybe a few hours or a few days . . . I can't remember), 1 sister died at 9 from blood poisoning, and 1 sister died in the 50s; so in this picture there are only 11 children shown.
Granny B is the lady on the 2nd row on the far right in the green dress. She had a twin brother named Eugene and they both died of Alzheimer's. Their names were Eugene and Adene . . . hee hee. Here are all their names . . . I'm sure you will get a laugh out of some of them.
Front row from left to right: Boyd (twin-Maude-died in 50s), Faye (twin-Wade), Mary, Velma(twin-Selma-died at 9)
2nd row left to right: Eugene(twin-GrannyB), Bertha (oldest child), Tommie (youngest child), Adene "Granny B"
3rd row from left to right: Andrew, Ivy, Wade
The twins that died as babies were Era and Eva. The only 2 living now are Aunt Faye (106) and Aunt Tommie (93).
