So hopefully all the play today will let these girls sleep well tonight:

Park
Today I needed to clean bathrooms and dust. So Emily decided to help me. But having a 3 year old want to help you clean the bathroom is a wee bit stressful. I had an elevated blood pressure by the time it was all over : ) At one point Emily was wrapping her arm in a Cl@rox wipe . . . have mercy! So after our chores we went to a park to play:

I put Abigail in a different type sling today and it hurt my back too bad. But Abigail did fine:
Yesterday I made the mistake of taking a nap with Emily. I was SO TIRED yesterday so we napped . . . but then at 10:00 last night Emily had gotten up for the 4th time that night. She finally went to sleep and then was in our room at 5:15 this morning! I put her back in her bed and thankfully she slept until 7:45 . . . so I definitely was reminded why we don't let Emily take naps anymore . . . except on very rare occasions.
So hopefully all the play today will let these girls sleep well tonight:

Socks
This morning I dressed Emily in an A&burn shirt I made. But she saw that Abigail had a sleeper on with pink feet. So she grabbed her pink socks to match her sister's "pink foots". So Emily went to school with her orange and blue shirt, orange and blue bow . . . and pink socks!
Then when I picked her up she told me she wanted her fingernails and toenails painted. So for the first time ever, we painted her fingernails and toenails:

Parties
This weekend we went to Birmingham for Sarah and Sam's birthday party. Sarah is now 8 and Sam is 6!!! I can't believe it. Saturday morning we went to Sam's baseball game:

Emily and Sawyer ate lunch and watched the game:
I missed most of the swim party because Abigail hadn't napped all afternoon and FINALLY fell asleep when it was time to leave for the party. So Joe and Emily went swimming while I stayed at my sister's house to let Abigail get some sleep . . . we showed up for cake time! My sister combined Sarah and Sam's party since she could invite 25 people to swim:

We had a nice weekend together. This morning Emily woke up and asked me if we could go to Aunt Chelle's house today so she could play with "Saw Saw". Sweet girl . . . she loves her cousins.

Swing Time
Yesterday we spent some time outside swinging. I brought Abigail's swing out for her to enjoy the nice weather also:

Abigail's eyes are swollen and gooped up because she's had a head cold this week. I took her to the doctor today to make sure it wasn't an eye infection. . . . it's just a cold and her ears have lots of fluid but no infection. So hopefully she will be feeling better soon.
When we were at the doctor he asked if Emily was about to turn 4. I told him that she had just turned 3 a couple of months ago and he said, "Wow . . . her vocabulary is so big for a 3 year old." Go Emily!
Today Emily wanted to feed her giraffe the red berries off our bush in the front yard:

She has also discovered the joy of smushing the berries in the driveway . . . so our driveway is looking really groovy now. This girl is so busy all the time!

Sewing
Today Emily and I spent time together sewing. I worked on a pair of shorts for Abigail (which turned out to be more like capris) and Emily cut fabric strips with her scissors. She also would hand me pens when I needed to pen things together. It was fun "hanging out" with her today.
Here's what the room looked like at the end of the afternoon . . .
. . . and she did cut a small part of the bottom of her pants which resulted in the scissors going to time out . . .
But I got Abigail's shorts done. I finished Emily's t-shirt dress last week:
A good day spent together for a dreary cold and rainy day.

Zoo Time!
Yesterday we continued our celebration of nice weather by going to the zoo. Thanks PawPaw and Dee Dee for our annual pass for this year! Here we are ready to leave. I think this picture captures the essence of Abigail's beautiful hair!!!!:
Zoo time!
Emily enjoyed looking at the map yesterday and picking where to go next. She did a great job of seeing what the animal was on the map and telling us she wanted to go see the zebras next or the elephants, etc. I was impressed:
Abigail enjoyed watching all the activity in her stroller:
I love this picture. This orangutan was sitting in his throne looking out over everyone like he was king of the world:

I'm glad we had a great day yesterday because today it rained all day and we were back in our coats and long sleeves by the end of the day : (

Lovin' the Warm Weather
We actually wore short sleeves today!!!! We had such a beautiful spring day that we celebrated by going to the park this afternoon. So guess what I did . . . come on you know . . . put Emily and Abigail in matching outfits!!!

Happy Spring everybody!
Last night my friend Tara and I went to see the movie Av@tar 3D. It was so good! We didn't get home until after midnight. I've been up all week coughing so last night was no different. I figured I might as well lose sleep watching an enjoyable movie than just sitting at home losing sleep : ) I even broke down and watched TV at 3:30 this morning because of my cough. Then about the time I got all settled and starting to doze I heard Abigail wake up at 4 something . . . but I never went to her room. She settled back down after a little while. I hope I get a little more rest tonight . . . but it's not looking hopeful . . . because I'm having a coughing fit while I'm typing . . .
Here are my sweet babies:

Wear Green
Emily was asked to wear green today for school so of course I had Abigail wear green too! Emily is in the middle of saying "Happy St. P@trick's Day" in the photo:
This morning, getting dressed was delayed a little because Emily said she had to put her babies to bed and read them a story before bedtime. We then had to turn out the lights and leave the room and get dressed in Abigail's room because her babies were asleep. So sweet!:
We have all had lingering colds and coughs that won't go away! We are in week #3 of congestion and cough for Joe and me and it's really starting to get old. I'm ready for warmer weather and no more cold and cough!

5 Months Old!
Abigail is 5 Months Old Today!!!!
Abigail is trying to roll over from back to front but hasn't yet. She loves to sit in her little chair and smile and laugh at whoever looks her way. She has done well in the church nursery the last few Sundays. Abigail sleeps really well. She now sleeps from 7pm to 7 am at night and takes a really long morning nap and then a shorter afternoon nap. Her hair is still as crazy as ever but is thinning some on the sides. I now only feed her 4 to 5 times in a day and she is much more efficient during meal times. When she gets tired the best thing to do for her is to swaddle her in her bed and she puts that thumb right in her mouth. I thought Emily was an easy baby to go to sleep but Abigail has her beat for sure.
We love you sweet 5 month old girl!!!!

Party
Last weekend we went to Birmingham for my brother's birthday. I left my camera at my sister's house so I haven't been able to post anything to the blog this week. But my kind brother mailed my camera to me and I got it back yesterday!
Before discussing the festivities I must comment on the previous post about Emily with her scissors. Don't give her any ideas on cutting her hair! One day last week I had to work while she was at home and when I was done there were a million tiny little pieces of paper all over the living room floor. She had also cut one of her necklaces into several pieces and had started in on cutting some cloth off of one of her teddy bears. But what can I say, the girl played quietly while I worked. Thanks goodness she didn't think about cutting any hair!
My brother Robert always loves to celebrate his birthday with friends so we went to his house last Saturday night. Everyone brought their favorite finger food to celebrate and when it got time to eat, Robert came out of the kitchen and said, "Hey Dad I forgot to get plates, napkins, cups, and ice . . . can you go get some?" Crazy boy!!!!! :

Abigail slept on the floor in Robert's guest room and the rest of the children watched a movie in Robert's room while the adults had fun playing C@tch Phrase . . . one of my favorites!
We also got to meet the newest members of my sister's family . . . as if Michelle doesn't have enough to do already with 3 children . . . they now have 2 puppies!

These crazy mutts got out of the fence while I was there and started running thru the woods on the side of their property. So Sarah and I went running back there to get them and kept having to jump over a little creek amongst all the woods . . . Sarah got both dogs back safe and sound.
Abigail enjoyed seeing PawPaw and DeeDee:

. . . . and she enjoyed watching her cousins make funny faces. Watch her laughing at Sarah and Sam in this video:

Scissors
Emily discovered scissors at her friend Julia's house last week so of course we had to get a pair for the house. She has enjoyed making valentine's for everyone lately by cutting up little pieces of paper and putting stickers on top of them:

We also had fun taking pictures together:
Here is Emily's photo of Abigail and mom:
This past Saturday we got a babysitter and had lunch with our friends Jason and April. Jason wanted to try sushi and we all know Joe was excited to have an excuse to eat sushi. So their daughter Riley stayed with Emily and Abigail at our house with the sitter and we enjoyed a relaxing lunch! Abigail did fine, so this Sunday I even left her in the nursery for the first time . . . yea! It was the first Sunday in 4 1/2 months that I got to sit thru a worship service : )

DeJa Vu
I can't believe that it snowed again here today! Yesterday it got warm enough outside to open up our windows, and today we played in the snow!! Here are photos from our adventures this afternoon:

We came back inside to get warm and Emily and Abigail enjoyed hanging out together on Abigail's quilt. If you notice closely the girl can drool . . . look at the front of her shirt!
I had to take Emily to the doctor yesterday and while we were there the doctor took a look at Abigail's ears just to make sure she was o.k. While he was doing that, Abigail put her big wet hand right on his face . . . it was pretty funny!
