Pink Pig

So apparently there is an Atlanta tradition to ride the pink pig at M@cy's.  It's been around since 1953.  So Rachel and I took the girls on Wednesday.  We had not counted on how excited they would be since it had been a WHOLE WEEK since they had seen each other.  So it was kinda hard to keep the excitement down in the middle of the mall . . . but we managed : )  It was a fun day spent with friends:

The original ride from the 1950s:
Our turn to ride the train:
At the end of the ride we each got a sticker that said "I rode M@cy's Pink Pig":

Christmas!!!

Santa came to visit our house!  Emily woke us up but Abigail wasn't awake yet.  While we were waiting for Abigail to wake up, Emily went to the loft and looked down to the living room.  She kept coming back to our room to report what she could see : )

Abigail sniffed out her candy cane that she asked for and started eating it right away:
A gift to Emily from Abigail:
New hats and gloves for when it gets cold:

A gift from Mom and Dad.  Emily saw this in a store well before Thanksgiving and told me that was what she wanted from us for Christmas.  So I went ahead and bought it that day because I was afraid it would be gone.  She had already forgotten that we bought it that day : )
Cookie play set for Abigail from Mom and Dad:

Her "Ariel" waterfall she asked Santa for:

 New dress up!!!
Then about 12:30 it hit me that they were missing some dolls I had bought for them : )  So I dug around in my closet and found them and wrapped them.  So we had 2nd Christmas in the afternoon!  I also found a couple of other little things that I will give them next weekend : )  Guess I better make a master list to look at next year when wrapping for Christmas!

The girls enjoyed the day playing with all their new toys.  It's so fun to hear Emily in all her imaginary play:

Joe and I played Yahtzee and Trouble and I beat him every time : )  We then cooked steaks, potatoes and salad for Christmas dinner  . . . yum!
The first thing the girls did this morning was put on their dress up clothes.  Abigail enjoyed her breakfast on the floor while Emily tried out her new sewing kit:

 Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Christmas Eve

On Friday we made cookies for Santa.

Our batch made a lot so we took some with us to Grandma's to share.  Of course when we got to Grandma's, Emily wanted to open presents right away.  We held her off until after dinner : )

On Christmas Eve we ate lunch with Uncle John and his two sons:
Then we headed home so Santa could come visit!

Christmas Break

The girls were home from school for the rest of the week for the start of their Christmas break.  They spent two whole days in their pink tutu's and played well together:
I even took several phone calls for work and the house didn't fall apart while I was on the phone.  An added bonus!

Emily wore her t-shirt dress the other day and I was excited about how it turned out:
She designed some dresses for Abigail while I worked on a skirt for her:
She always wants to wear dresses and not pants, but I had already stitched out her Birthday shirt on a ruffle t-shirt so I told her I would attempt a skirt to go with it.  I didn't use a pattern but just cut out a rectangle, added elastic, and a cuff and ric rac at the bottom and voila:
It can go with this Repunzel shirt I embroidered for her upcoming Repunzel Birthday party:
We also made some Chex Mix and more Christmas cookies today to get ready for our Christmas weekend!  It's getting exciting around here!!

Pajama Day

The girls had their last day of school yesterday.  It was Pajama Day and Emily was very excited to get to wear her PJ's to school:
They also got to watch a movie and eat pizza.  A very fun last day of school!

My dad emailed us a Christmas card where you build a snowman.  Emily has had the best time with this card.  She even knows how to start it over again.  Abigail enjoyed watching her:

We are in official countdown mode for Santa to visit!  Emily has 2 calendars that she has used to countdown the big day : )

Random

Last Thursday the girls had their Christmas parties at school:
Rachel painted the kids faces so Abigail had to have her turn:
She was so proud of her Frosty the snowman.  She pointed to him and talked about him for the rest of the day.  She even cried when we had to wash him off before bed:
On Friday, Abigail came up to me and said, "shoe up my nose. shoe up my nose."  My brain recalled seeing a small toy shoe on the living room floor so I looked over and sure enough, it wasn't over there anymore.  I peaked up her nose and saw something blue.  Luckily she was able to blow it back out for me . . . crazy nut!

Abigail also kept sitting on this cooler last week and telling me that she was in time out.  Guess she needed some time to herself:
Emily and I worked on making some Christmas treats for our neighbors.  It was fun having her help me with it.  She also enjoyed taking the treats to everyone on Saturday.

I had a couple of shirts that I've been meaning to embroider, so I worked on those on Saturday:
I let Emily pick what she wanted on this t-shirt dress I made . . . she picked a unicorn:
I also finished this dress for Emily and she wore it today with her new boots.  I bought this fabric in the remnant bin at the fabric store so it only cost me $1.50 . . . yippee!
I've recently started going back to the gym after a 3 year hiatus (sad I know).  Tonight the girls got their faces painted in the kid's area while I was in my class:
And there is our random for the week : )
