Weekend
This is how Emily greeted me when I went into her room yesterday afternoon to get her up from her nap:
We were supposed to go to an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday but it was rained out. So instead we spent the weekend cleaning up. As I've stated earlier, I hate that this house doesn't have a pantry in the kitchen. Well I decided that I couldn't take it anymore and had to do something . . . so I bet we are the only people in the world who have an entertainment center in their kitchen . . . that stores food instead of a TV : )
As of today we have our house on the market so this will be much easier to store food than trying to straighten out everything when someone wants to come look at the house . . . because let's face it . . . . 90% of realtors give you about a 5 minute warning that they want to show your house.

Fancy Hairdo
Emily and I went to get our haircut this morning. The person who cuts my hair was running behind so she asked the person next to her station to cut Emily's hair. So we sat side by side and had our "hair done". Emily sat up there like a big girl and kept saying, "Emily get her hair cut. Mommy get her hair cut too." The lady finished with Emily early so I think to pass the time she got all fancy on us. She did a little french braid in the front and put her bow in her hair. She is a fancy girl now : )

Aquarium
Since I have an annual pass to the Aquarium, Emily and I went there this morning. I was hoping since it was close to GA spring break that no one would be taking field trips . . . but as we were walking towards the building we were greeted by about 15 school buses! I think most of them went to the Coke museum though! Goofy me dropped my back pack right in front of the kids and my stuff scattered EVERYWHERE! Emily helped me pick it up. I'm sure all the kids got a good chuckle.
There is a great playground now across the street so next time if it's not raining I plan on eating lunch there and letting Emily play . . . but today we just ate our lunch in the car on the way home. Also, as a member we got to see the 4D movie they have there for free. I've never been before because I didn't want to spend the money, so Emily got to see her first theater movie today. I'm SO GLAD I didn't spend money on that movie. It was so sad to me that people pay $5 to go see it . . . not worth it . . . but definitely worth it to go for free. Emily watched the whole thing (a whopping 20 minutes) and had her glasses on most of the time.
She saw the fish walking around and ran right up to him and gave him a hug:

We also got to see the sea otters eating their breakfast this morning of shrimp and more shrimp. They are my favorites so I was excited to see the trainers out there feeding them this morning when we got there:

In other random news, I cooked FRESH turnip greens yesterday for the first time in my life! I've been craving some good ol' fashioned summer southern cooking lately . . . I think because I want warmer weather so bad. So I cooked fresh turnip greens . . . they turned out a little too sweet for me so I will use less sugar next time . . . but they were good! Yea! I also cooked butter beans, cream corn, cornbread, and chicken (I cooked the chicken for Joe because he wouldn't have been too happy with a veggie only meal). The only thing missing was fresh sliced tomatoes and fried okra . . . I will have to wait for summer time for the tomatoes! Oh how I miss my Granny B's cookin'

Sarah's Party
This weekend we went to Birmingham for Sarah's 7th Birthday Party. She had a F ancy N ancy party. The girls were so cute. Here is the birthday girl waiting to greet her guests:

Emily and Sawyer stuck close to the cake during the party to make sure they got a piece!
Emily and Sawyer were 2 little buddies this weekend playing together the whole time. It was sweet:

In sewing news, here is the outfit I made for Emily to wear to the party:

2 Years and 2 Months old!
Emily is 2 Years and 2 Months old today!!!!
Well this month I want to share all the funny things Emily has done lately! The other day we were driving down the road and she was looking at her GoodNight Moon Book. She closed the book and said, "The End. That was a great story!" Then the other night we were getting out of the car and Joe pointed out the moon to her in the sky. She looked right at him and said, "I fly up there and touch the moon Daddy." She has also learned a new song at school and loves to sing it REALLY loud. The other night we thought she was fast asleep and then heard her singing at the top of her lungs, "Where is Julia, Where is Julia, here I am, here I am, how are you today sir, very well I thank you, run away, run away". She also was telling Joe all of the children's names in her class and then looked at him and said, "I like Jacob, Daddy". Joe told her we needed to check into that : ) This past Sunday morning, Emily was sitting with us in church and looked at me and said, "Daddy is crazy, Mommy, Daddy is crazy".
And last but not least, she is now very opinionated about which color bow to put in her hair. She puts the bow up to her shirt to make sure it matches. The other day she had on her purple PJ's and asked to have the purple bow in her hair. I just grabbed the dark purple bow and she held it up and said, "No Mommy, I need the light purple bow". Crazy girl!

Cookies
Emily has discovered the joy of Thin Mints . . . I have memories of Girl S*out Cookies since I was a little girl. I remember one year my mom was the coordinator for our area so we had cases and cases of cookies for all the local troops to come pick up and sell. She had such a hard time keeping us from just going in there and "getting one more box" : )

Emily still makes me laugh with her "dipping" habits. The other night I made her a PBJ sandwich because we were eating baked potatoes and she doesn't like them. She saw the sour cream and wanted some on her plate. So I put it on there and girlfriend dipped her PBJ in sour cream and ate the whole thing! Then last night we had chicken and corn on the cob. We put some butter on our corn and Emily said she wanted some butter on her plate. So instead of wanting it on her corn she dipped her chicken in the butter and ate it. Crazy nut!
Speaking of crazy . . . our goofy goofy dog pulled Emily's crayon tub onto the floor last night and ate ALL BUT 4 OF THE CRAYONS!!!! I think there were about 20 crayons in that tub!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! If he starts gagging up colored puke today I might send him away . . . dang dog!

Fun at the Park
Sorry it's been so long since posting but we have spent the last 2 weeks with someone in the house sick. Emily had a virus a couple of weeks ago with a bad cough and fever and then I got sick with coughing all the time . . . and then just when we thought Emily was almost over her cough she started back with 103 fever on Friday. So by Saturday when she was still feeling rotten we took her to the local Urgent Care. I thought . . . oh dear . . . we are going to be there FOREVER! But they have a call ahead feature where they tell you what time to show up. Our appt was at 4:15. We got there at 4:05 and we were driving back down the road to get a FREE antibiotic by 4:35! That's quicker than our pediatrician's office.
Anyway, Emily had her first ear infection. Since all the crud in her head never quite cleared up from her virus it developed into an infection. So the doctor told us to go to P blix and the prescription would be free . . . nice! So by Monday Emily was feeling much better.
Today we met her school friend at a local park. Emily and Julia are the only girls in their class of 8. This was the park that has a pond and ducks that Joe and I took Emily to last summer, so I brought along my loaf of bread . . . but there were only 2 geese at the pond and they weren't that interested in us. But the slides were fun:

Coloring
Tonight Emily decided to sit in her lego box and color. These pictures just make me smile:

It seems this week that Emily is making complete sentences. She says: "I have marker on my finger mommy". Everything ends in mommy or daddy. She likes to tell us stuff and always ends the sentence with our name.
Here are a couple of my projects I've worked on. I took a tote bag class and finished this bag tonight:
I also went to a sew club last month and the teacher gave us this design to make luggage tags. This was my first attempt. You can also sew a plastic cover on top to insert a business card, instead of embroidering your name, so I'm going to try that next:

Bicycle
Emily was sick all last week so we were pretty lazy around here. She ran a fever for a few days and has a nasty cough. I am now coughing up a storm . . . blah . . .
In fun news, the other day Emily told Joe, "Daddy is a daddy and Mommy is a mommy and Emily is a baby". She has now added that "Bud is a puppy dog". She has also enjoyed playing the "pinano" this week.
We hope this week goes better and that we all get well. Here is a picture of Emily on a bicycle at a local store:
