Crazy Week
It's been one of those weeks . . . On a happy note, Emily cut her top left tooth on Tuesday 8/28 and has started getting up on her hands and knees and rocking back and forth so I assume she will start crawling soon??? We'll see. Last night she woke us up at 2:00 a.m. fussing and when I went in her room she was on her hands and knees rocking back and forth. Of course she went back to sleep in about 20 minutes . . . I on the other hand stayed awake until 5:00 a.m. . . . ever since Emily was born if something wakes me up like that I can't go back to sleep easily. I mentioned to Joe as I crawled back in the bed that we needed to move her bed mattress down since she has started getting up like that because I didn't want her to pull herself up and over the crib. So at 3:00 when we were trying to doze back off Joe had a dream that Emily was falling out of the bed so all of a sudden he jumps out of the bed and starts grabbing all the pictures and cologne on our dresser . . . he thought he was grabbing her out of the bed. I guess I should have waited until this morning to mention the mattess to him : ) He goes back to sleep . . . but I just couldn't. Oh well : ) I'm SO glad he had off work today or it would have been awful when his alarm went off at 5:00 to go to work . . . we did get her mattress moved down today!
On a not so happy note, Emily has also been crying ALOT this week. At night she has had complete meltdowns . . . I haven't been able to figure it out. I put her to bed at 6:30 two nights this week so Joe hadn't even seen Emily since Sunday night because he's been getting home late and I've been putting her to bed so early because I don't know what else to do with her. She eats a couple of bites of her oatmeal and then starts screaming. Today I thought it might be the high chair that's getting her so upset because it's so big. So tonight I put her in the booster chair and she seems to have done a little better tonight . . . even though she still ending up crying at the end of eating . . . but at least she finished this time instead of screaming her head off after eating two bites . . . I sure do wish I could understand what she's trying to tell me sometimes. Here's the face I've seen a lot of this week : )

Visit to my sister's house
I went to Birmingham this weekend to see my brother and my sister and her children. We had a relaxing time.
Here are Sawyer and Emily bonding:
Here is Robert (my brother) and Michelle and her kids being lazy on Saturday . . . that was a great day! That evening we watched Wild Hogs . . . it was a funny movie. On Sunday after church we went to eat at Piccadilly . . . yummy! I'm sure most of you are laughing that people our age like to eat at Piccadilly but we love it . . . what can I say!
Sawyer was playing with my cell phone and called my mother in law on speed dial : )
Here is everyone getting ready for bed Saturday night:

Highchair
My sweet baby girl sat in her high chair for the first time today! I had been meaning to pull it out of the closet to see how she would do in it and finally got around to that today. She sits in it better than the booster chair I had been using. I bought this high chair last fall at a yard sale and at the time it seemed like it would be forever before I would actually use it. Here she is waiting for me to get her baby food ready:
You can tell I've taken about 20 pictures at this point. She seems to be saying . . . ok mom . . . we've captured the moment . . . can we move onto eating something now : )
So far she has eaten sweet potatoes, squash, pears, corn with sweet potatoes, bananas, sweet peas, apples and today carrots. She didn't really like the pears. I think they were too tart for her. She gagged on the sweet peas and today spit out the carrots. So we'll try the carrots again tomorrow to see if she likes them better. I've tried everything also except for the sweet peas. I couldn't bring myself to put them in my mouth. They looked and smelled nasty . . . but I gave them to her anyway because they say to let them try everything.

Beach Trip
Well this time last week we were enjoying our time at the beach . . . time sure does fly by. We had a great time! The place we stayed offered complimentary lounge chairs and an umbrella so every morning when Emily was napping I enjoyed reading my book lounging on the beach and taking periodic dips in the ocean. . . it was nice. We went to see The Bourne Ultimatum Saturday night since my parents were there to keep Emily that evening. We also enjoyed watching Adams Family Values (if you haven't seen this movie made in the early 90s you MUST watch it . . . hysterical!) and old Carol Burnette show episodes with my brother, playing cards, eating good seafood and lounging around. On our last evening there dad stayed at the condo with Emily and me, Joe, my mom, and Robert went shopping at the outlet stores. It was a relaxing time. Here are some photos of the week:

This is one of my favorite photos. Here's what Emily thought of the beach : )

First two teeth
I know this picture is crazy but I've been trying so hard to get a picture of Emily's first two teeth. As you can see I've had no luck. She keeps putting her tongue over them. Joe looked at me like I was crazy when I showed him the picture : )
Yesterday I took Emily for her 6 month pictures. I wore a white gown that my mom made for me when I got married and she made a dress to match the lace from my gown for our picture together. And . . . it turned out that Joe had off yesterday so at the last minute he grabbed a white shirt and we got a family photo. I can't wait to get the pictures back. I think they turned out well.
We are leaving tomorrow night for the beach. We are going for a few days. I'm looking forward to it. I can't wait to get Emily in the pool and to walk on the beach with her. I'm going to TRY to take her out in the early morning when she wakes up . . . we'll see if I'm awake enough to actually do it. I'm SO NOT a morning person.
