Favorite Activity

Emily isn't aware that the temperature outside is reaching the 90s now in Georgia. If I let her, she would be outside all day long! She loves to gather sticks and leaves and wave to anyone out walking. Tonight she kept running around saying "Whoa" over and over. We've also noticed this week that she has started jabbering away in her own language. She just talks and talks and talks about stuff but only she and God knows what she's saying : ) Here she is tonight walking around outside:

Wipes Accident

Emily's changing table is right by her baby bed so before she takes a nap or goes to sleep at night we always move the wipes container to the middle of the changing table so she can't grab it . . . well I forgot to do that today when she took her nap. So here's how I found her this afternoon. She actually helped me put all the wipes back but now they are in a big ball in the container. At least she had a good time!!!

My poor daughter looks like "Cousin It" from the Adam's Family when she doesn't have a bow in her air . . . but her mom is still determined for her not to have bangs : )

She also enjoys drinking her milk while she leans up against the couch . . . AHHHH this is the life:
Swim Lesson update: well Emily has turned into the child that cries the entire time in class. I'm thinking about not even going to the last two classes. I'm sure they won't mind since they already have my money : ) I don't want to freak her out so bad that she never wants to get in the water. I guess you live and learn on stuff like this. I'm sure if we went to the pool more often that the classes wouldn't be so bad . . .

Outfits from Grandmothers

Last week Emily got two new outfits in the mail from her grandmothers. It was such a nice surprise! My mom made her this outfit:

And Joe's mom got her this pink dress with "sweet pea" on it. We love it!
Thanks DeeDee and Grandma!!!

I also got the award today for world's worst mom. I was putting clothes in the dryer this morning and Emily came to me with some toys and she was crying. I thought she was flustered trying to pull them apart so I pulled them apart for her and then kept putting clothes in the dryer. She kept crying and I said, "Emily, you need to stop fussing." Then when I was done I picked her up and realized her gums were bleeding . . . so I guess she had fallen and was trying to tell me but I was too busy!!!!! I got blood on my shirt and had to hold her gums with a wet washcloth to stop the bleeding : ( Poor girl. She is fine though. FYI - if you ever get blood on your clothes you can wet them and then spray peroxide on it and it washes the blood right out!!!

Dress Up

Emily's favorite thing to do lately is grab clothes out of the laundry and put them on. She pulled 4 shirts over her head tonight and had a couple more in her hands and at one point managed to put her arm thru a whole in an old towel. She is so much fun to watch sometimes . . . and makes putting up laundry very interesting!

I wanted to give an update on her 2nd swim class Wednesday. She cried more this week than last week. It all started when I asked the teacher if I had her float on tight enough. I thought he was just going to check it where we were in the pool . . . but he said, "let me see" and took her and sat her on the side of the pool so he could tighten it . . . well she didn't like that at all and the screaming started : ) We also dunked them under water a couple of times too. Later the teacher took Emily from me again to give me a break from the crying and Emily didn't like that either. When he gave her back to me she screamed at the top of her little lungs "Bye" several times and waved at him, as if to say . . . "get away from me and go away!!". Well everybody got a kick out of that and had a good laugh. Bless her heart. In between the crying there were moments of fun in the pool. We are going over to Carey's in the morning to swim with Anna and Drew so I hope Emily enjoys herself better.

Swim Class

Emily and I took our first swim class together today. I signed her up for 5 weeks of the shrimp class. We go for 30 minutes once a week. I didn't know what to expect today, but hoped that she wouldn't spend the whole time crying and clinging to me. She did really well! She is the only girl in her class and there were 2 boys in there who did scream and cling to their moms the whole time . . . so if she had decided to cry we would have been in good company : ) She did cry some here and there, but we got thru all the little things our teacher had us try, and most of the time she laughed and had fun. At the end he allowed those that wanted to try to go down a small kiddie slide into the pool where the instructor caught them and let them go under water for a split second and Emily was one of them!!! We go back next Wednesday morning. Here she is in her outfit before we left the house this morning:

I don't know if it was the trauma from the swim class or what, but for the rest of the day she wouldn't let me out of her sight. She cried when it was time for her nap and cried when she went to bed tonight. She is the easiest sleeper in the world but wanted to just lay her head on my shoulder today. I always wonder what is going thru their little minds when they do something out of the ordinary like that. She is my sweetie pie . . .

Puzzle

My friend Cathy gave me this puzzle for Emily before she was even born. I pulled it out a couple of months ago and Emily loves playing with it. She has gotten really good at pulling out the pieces and putting them back in the correct places. She picks up the whole puzzle and carries it to whatever room I'm in to put it together. Emily says thanks Cathy!

Baby Doll

I finally found some baby doll clothes to fit my Baby Tender Love Doll. This was my favorite baby doll as a child but I didn't have any clothes for her. So I searched on ebay and found a person that still makes the baby doll clothes from a 1972 Simplicity pattern for Baby Tender Love dolls . . . how crazy is that! I bought this dress for $5.00. I only wish I could find some way to fix her poor hair!!!!

My parents gave me this doll when my sister was born. I noticed on the back of her neck it has a trademark for 1972 which was the year I was born . . . very cool.
