Spring Break

Last week was Spring Break.  The most IMPORTANT thing we did that week was potty train.  Abigail had been showing signs of being ready to try potty training so it hit me on Sunday that she was about to be home all week . . . a perfect time to throw her in some big girl panties and see what happened.  On Monday we blew thru about 8 pair of underwear in about 3 hours and I had her in a pull up by mid afternoon.  But on Tuesday morning we gave it another try and I could see it click with her when she finally realized how to wait and go on the potty.  Sweet!  So she did really well the whole week.  She had about 1 accident a day but I was in such shock that things really clicked with her quickly that the daily accidents were no big deal.

Yea Abigail!
So what else did we do on Spring Break?  We had one of Emily's classmates over to play one afternoon:
We also played outside with our neighbors and enjoyed yummy popsicles:

One night Emily discovered her baby picture albums.  Abigail grabbed her baby album and sat next to her sister and they both enjoyed looking at themselves as little babies:
My parents came for a visit on Wednesday and Mom and the girls enjoyed bubbles in the back yard:

On Friday afternoon we went to a tea with Repunzel:

 Enjoying tea . . .

 and yummy treats . . .
Abigail had a peanut butter and jelly shaped like a princess shoe.  She just licked the chocolate off the end and left the rest of the sandwich on her plate : )
Repunzel and Sleeping Beauty and friends stopping by our table:

After the tea the girls enjoyed playing dress up at the tea room:

On Saturday, Joe brought us home some yummy treats to share:
and the girls had fun playing in the sand box:
Sunday was Easter so the girls wore the dresses I made them:
After church we went to the Lydas for lunch and an Easter egg hunt:

Today we got back into our routine.  By the end of the day today everyone was tired and cranky : )  But we had a great week last week and are super excited that diapers will soon be a thing of the past at our house!!!!!

Zoo Time

We renewed our pass to the zoo so we went together on Saturday.  Joe took them a couple of weeks ago but this was the first time in a while that we all got to go together.  It was fun seeing Abigail walking around and getting excited about what we were doing.  The last time I took her to the zoo she was just along for the ride.

For the first time in 3 years we decided to spend a little cash at the zoo and buy some parakeet food.  The girls had fun feeding the birds:

Joe decided the zoo experience would be complete with a margarita . . .

And we splurged on some cotton candy too . . .

We found a caterpillar at one of the exhibits and the girls enjoyed having him crawl on their arms:

Abigail walked up to Joe and said, "Daddy, I hold your hand.  You are my best friend."  I want to remember this moment . . .

The girls wanted to take some pictures so Emily took this picture:
 And Abigail took this picture:

We got to see the bears awake for the first time . . .

On our way home . . . what a great day at the zoo!

Kindergarten

On Friday we met Emily's classmates, Maddox and Ashlyn, to register them for kindergarten!!!!
They had fun picking "flowers" in front of the school.  We went inside and filled out paper work while they colored.  Maddox took care of Abigail for me by having her color next to him and he would take Abigail with him to pick out new coloring sheets.  Thanks Maddox!

We had to sign up for a small screening test that they will take and we will take them on a tour of the school in about a month.  They also received a free school t-shirt.

After we were done we all went to lunch.  Maddox's mom, Emily, ordered a special treat for the newly registered kindergarteners:

I can't believe Emily will be starting kindergarten in 4 months!!!!   We got a list of what supplies they will need for school.  It had your typical: scissors, 2 packs of pencils, 3 packs of crayons, 1 pack of markers . . . and . . . 24 glue sticks . . . . 24 glue sticks???  I thought that was funny.  Apparently they will use a lot of glue their first year of school : )
