Trip to Auburn

Last weekend we went to Auburn to visit Grandma.  We went to Toomer's Corner to see the Toomer's trees one more time before they cut them down in April.

It was a beautiful weekend to walk around and we enjoyed it.  It was the end of Auburn's spring break so we enjoyed having the campus to ourselves:

We even did a little shopping.  I found these adorable dresses on sale and could not resist:
The weather at this time of year is really crazy.  We went from wearing short sleeves for a few days and then back to long sleeves again.  The girls got to enjoy wearing some of their new spring clothes before we had to pull out winter attire again:

Zoo

Yesterday was so nice that we went to the zoo after church.  It was crowded but fun.

This zoo trip was special because it was the first time we went without a stroller!  We packed our water and snacks in a back pack and walked!

Since we went in the afternoon instead of the morning, we saw some animals we had never seen and some active ones that are usually just asleep:

We all watched a Birds of Prey show that we really neat.  Abigail and I had seen it back in August so we were excited that Joe and Emily could now watch it:

School Activities

This week in school Emily's class had a wedding of the letters Q and U.  Everyone dressed up in their Sunday best and they had a wedding.  The boys had bow ties and the girls wore veils and had bouquets:
And they got to walk down the aisle with one of the boys in class.

Abigail's class spent the week talking about bugs.  One day they cleaned the bugs with shaving cream.  Abigail came home smelling like strong cologne : )  She also told me that there are BIG bugs and little bugs and those are opposites. I love her little sayings:

Trip to Austin

On Thursday night I flew to Austin to spend time with my college roommates.  This is our 9th year to do this and we were at Angie's house this year.  It really is a wonderful time to visit with these girls.  We all got in late on Thursday night.  I surprised Danielle with this purse I made her:
Then on Friday we ate lunch in downtown Hutto at The Texan Cafe which was featured in Southern Living for their Happy Pie Hour:

On Saturday we drove near Austin and went to a lookout point to see the Colorado River and a view of downtown Austin:

It was a great trip.  Michelle and I rode to Dallas on Sunday morning with Danielle to catch our flights out of Dallas.  Can't wait to see these girls next year!

Joe had fun with our two on the same weekend.  On Friday he took them to the American Girl store and they happened to meet our friends Rachel, Julia, and Liliana.   Since all the schools had PJ Day for Dr. Seuss week, Julia and Emily were both in their PJs : )

Abigail decided this time that she didn't want to get on one of the animals.  So Joe and Abigail sat on the chair on the carousel . . .

After going to some stores and riding the carousel they met Rachel's husband for a sushi dinner.  The girls enjoyed spending time with their friends.  On Saturday Joe took them to a friend's birthday party and they also spent the day putting their new Legos together:

Emily put this entire Lego set together on Saturday!

Abigail enjoyed stacking up all her babies to go for a stroller ride:

Dr. Seuss Week

Emily finished the week out with a fun activity each day for Dr. Seuss week.  On Tuesday she wore green for green eggs and ham.  I asked Emily how she liked it and she said, "I didn't really like it".
On Wednesday she had Wacky Hat Day:
I ate lunch with Emily and then read Wacky Wednesday to her class:
On Thursday they made hats like Cat in the Hat and had shirts that the teacher made them.   Then on Friday they all got to wear pajamas.

On Tuesday afternoon the girls got their haircut.  Emily asked for her hair to be cut above her shoulders so that's what they did:

I left town on Thursday night to meet my college roommates for our annual get together!!!

Winter Break

Last week was Emily's winter break.  PawPaw and DeeDee came to visit for a few days and we stayed so busy that we didn't get 1 picture of their visit!  I'm sad I didn't get a picture.  On Sunday before break started we had lunch with friends from church:
Then on Monday we met some friends for lunch at ChikFilA and went to the park to play.  We met these girls at the pool 2 summers ago and the girls ended up going to school together last year and summer camp together.  They will be at camp again this summer and already can't wait for our pool to open again:

On Tuesday PawPaw and DeeDee came and we had fun together going to fabric stores and letting the girls play while I worked.  Joe had Tuesday off to go back to the doctor for his back.  We think we have found the reason for his back problems so hope this will put an end to his back and leg pain.

On Friday Joe got a shot for his back so that afternoon we took the girls to CatchAir:

After watching Emily go down the slide several times Abigail finally agreed to go down with me.  She enjoyed it so much that I had a hard time keeping up with her to go down 2 more times.  By that point my ankle had had enough and Joe's back was done sitting in the chairs watching the girls run around so we headed home.
That evening we enjoyed a dinner out while the grandparents ate dinner at home with the girls.  A nice treat!

We are back to school today and this week is Dr. Seuss week at school.  Today Emily dressed as a vet for career day because they are reading "Oh the Places You Will Go"!
On Tuesday they will wear green for Green Eggs and Ham, Wednesday is wear a wacky hat for Wacky Wednesday.  I will read that book in their class on Wednesday.  Thursday is The Cat in the Hat Day and their teacher has made t-shirts for them to wear.  And Friday is PJ day for Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book.  Should be a fun week!
