Spring Break Part 1

This week is Spring Break.  On Saturday we made cupcakes and the girls enjoyed licking the batter for the first time: )
On Monday the girls and I went to the zoo.  We got there just in time for lunch so ate at the entrance to the zoo:

We spent a little time looking at the animals before heading to two shows:

They had an animal show at the small theater near the Treehouse.  We had never been to this show before so it was fun.  Before the show started they asked the audience questions and Emily answered the color of Emu eggs and got a sheet of tatoos.  We learned about lizards, snakes, turtles and porcupines:

Then we walked over to the bird show that we've seen before.  This time we chose to sit right where the owl flies to:

On Tuesday we went to a nearby park and had a picnic lunch.  We all got a bit of sun as well.  PawPaw and DeeDee got to our house on Tuesday afternoon!
I gave DeeDee her purse and wallet that I made her:

And she gave the girls their gowns that she made for them:

The rest of March

This past month I went to a tupperware party for a friend.  She is now a consultant so I had her first party at my house.  From the sales money that I made I got all of this:
The items on the left I bought for half price and the items on the right I got for free!  That's why I love having these kinds of parties : )

We also bought a decent mattress for ourselves and moved this 10 year old mattress out of our room.  The girls enjoyed using it as a fort:
This past Saturday we decided to get Emily a booster seat for the van.  She was still in a 5 point harness and asked me the other day when she was going to be able to stop sitting in this baby seat.  So when she weighed in at EXACTLY 40 lbs at her 6 year check up I decided it was ok . . . see how happy she is:
Emily's 6 year check up went well.  She is 40 lbs and 3 ft 9 inches tall.  She checked out healthy : )

Since it was supposed to rain on Easter Sunday the girls had their own egg hunt in the back yard Saturday afternoon:

On Sunday, Easter, we went to Jason's parents house for lunch:

The girls had fun playing with all the bikes!

April is now upon us.  We have spring break in a week and then just 5 1/2 weeks after that school will be out for the summer.  So hard to believe . . .

Egg Hunt

Easter egg hunts are underway this week starting with our church egg hunt yesterday after church.  It was rainy weather so they had the hunts inside.  Abigail's age group had her hunt in the preschool classrooms.  But Emily's age group got to have a hunt in the dark worship center with their flashlights:

After the hunt we all stayed for a potluck lunch.  We had a fun afternoon!

Trip to Auburn

Last weekend we went to Auburn to visit Grandma.  We went to Toomer's Corner to see the Toomer's trees one more time before they cut them down in April.

It was a beautiful weekend to walk around and we enjoyed it.  It was the end of Auburn's spring break so we enjoyed having the campus to ourselves:

We even did a little shopping.  I found these adorable dresses on sale and could not resist:
The weather at this time of year is really crazy.  We went from wearing short sleeves for a few days and then back to long sleeves again.  The girls got to enjoy wearing some of their new spring clothes before we had to pull out winter attire again:

Zoo

Yesterday was so nice that we went to the zoo after church.  It was crowded but fun.

This zoo trip was special because it was the first time we went without a stroller!  We packed our water and snacks in a back pack and walked!

Since we went in the afternoon instead of the morning, we saw some animals we had never seen and some active ones that are usually just asleep:

We all watched a Birds of Prey show that we really neat.  Abigail and I had seen it back in August so we were excited that Joe and Emily could now watch it:

School Activities

This week in school Emily's class had a wedding of the letters Q and U.  Everyone dressed up in their Sunday best and they had a wedding.  The boys had bow ties and the girls wore veils and had bouquets:
And they got to walk down the aisle with one of the boys in class.

Abigail's class spent the week talking about bugs.  One day they cleaned the bugs with shaving cream.  Abigail came home smelling like strong cologne : )  She also told me that there are BIG bugs and little bugs and those are opposites. I love her little sayings:
