Fun projects

There is a new trend going on called rainbow looms and they offer workshops at our local toy store.  So I took Emily one afternoon so she could learn how to make the bracelets:
When we got home she went right to making bracelets for everyone in her class:

I also worked on making these keychains for teacher gifts.  Since I had to buy the hardware in bulk I offered to make them for others and got an order of 16!
Emily also brought home her Dr. Seuss bag to write about her outings with the Cat in the Hat.  Julia and Liliana came over one afternoon to play so Emily included her in her writings:

She wrote about doing homework, playing with her sticker book, going to bed:

playing with friends and eating breakfast with her sister:

Bowling and Legos

On Saturday we went to one of Emily's classmates Birthday party at the bowling alley.  They were so sweet to include Abigail and let her bowl along with the big kids:

Emily got 2 spares and Abigail got one.  Emily got a 78 and Abigail got a 74!

On Sunday we went to the library for their monthly Lego theme.  We found out a couple of weeks ago that they have this once a month and Emily did NOT let us forget to go.  This month's theme was pirates:

When you are done you can write your name down and display your creation on their book shelf for the month:

Spring Break Part 2

While PawPaw and DeeDee were here for the week, mom and I took the girls to the Babyland General Hospital where the Cabbage Patch Dolls are born:

A doctor comes out periodically to delivery a cabbage patch baby from the cabbage patch tree and the audience names the baby.  Two boys were born while we were there:
This doll was named Junior Joseph . . . bless his heart : )
After the doctor checked him out everyone got to hold him:

DeeDee let the girls pick out a doll.  Emily picked hers out because the doll's name was Emily.  The doll looked a lot like her too.  I helped Abigail pick out a doll that looked like the cabbage patch dolls I remember as a child with yarn for hair.  Her doll's name was Jewel but Abigail decided to name her Abigail:

The doctor checked their dolls out for them while we watched thru the nursery window:

 A clean bill of health!

 A fun day!
We spent the rest of the week playing at the house while I worked.  Abigail spent a lot of time tracing letters in this book and did a really great job:
On Friday night Joe and I went to dinner while the grandparents kept the girls.  We had dinner and then ice cream.  We wanted to go see a movie and drove around to several theaters but there wasn't anything good playing.  But we enjoyed our night out!

Joe's mom had a back injury from a car wreck a couple of weeks ago so Joe went to Auburn on Saturday and his mom had surgery Sunday in Columbus.  We are praying for a quick recovery for Grandma.

Spring Break Part 1

This week is Spring Break.  On Saturday we made cupcakes and the girls enjoyed licking the batter for the first time: )
On Monday the girls and I went to the zoo.  We got there just in time for lunch so ate at the entrance to the zoo:

We spent a little time looking at the animals before heading to two shows:

They had an animal show at the small theater near the Treehouse.  We had never been to this show before so it was fun.  Before the show started they asked the audience questions and Emily answered the color of Emu eggs and got a sheet of tatoos.  We learned about lizards, snakes, turtles and porcupines:

Then we walked over to the bird show that we've seen before.  This time we chose to sit right where the owl flies to:

On Tuesday we went to a nearby park and had a picnic lunch.  We all got a bit of sun as well.  PawPaw and DeeDee got to our house on Tuesday afternoon!
I gave DeeDee her purse and wallet that I made her:

And she gave the girls their gowns that she made for them:
