Visit from my roomies!

This past weekend my college roommates came to Atlanta! We get together each year and rotate to each other's house . . . this year was the year to come to Atlanta. We visited the GA Aquarium and the Coke Museum on Thursday. Here we are watching the 4D movie at the coke museum:

There is another movie that you see when you first go to the coke museum. I happen to think it's hysterical! The beginning shows what happens inside a coke machine when you put in the money . . . and then after that they interview all the characters . . . that's the funny part to me . . . I LOVE IT! My favorite characters in it are the tall skinny blue guys that you first see at the beginning. They are a hoot!

On Friday we visted the Margaret Mitchell House. She wrote Gone with the Wind. I've seen the movie about 10 times but I'm embarrassed to say that I've never read the book. I bought a copy on Friday so I will be reading it soon. They also had a small museum of items from the movie:Don't you just love Miss Scarlet:
On Saturday we went to the Cyclorama which is a 4 story oil painting depicting the Battle of Atlanta. It is the largest oil painting in the world measuring 42 feet high and 358 feet long. It was pretty cool. Danielle is our civil war history buff so she knows a lot more about it than I do. Here we are waiting to go in to see the painting:
We also went to the top of Kennesaw Mountain where part of the Battle of Atlanta took place. Here is our view of the city from the mountain:

Danielle was so excited because Emily got to visit her first civil war site:
They all went home Sunday morning after we ate breakfast at La Madeleine's. If you have never eaten there you must try it. They have such delicious food!

Busy Little Bee

Emily is on the go now. She is crawling much faster (as you can see from the video above) and will now crawl from room to room where she used to stay put for the most part. So as you can imagine she is into everything! I've seen her chewing on Bud's bone and trying to get his dog food and bowl. She has tried to open cabinets, play with the laptop, open the oven broiler door, pull the laundry out of the baskets, chew on the cell phone battery cords and I could go on and on! Getting stuff done around the house has gotten a lot more interesting lately!

Playing in the kitchen

Janelle, who keeps Emily for me sometimes, gave Emily this little kitchen yesterday. It was her little girl's kitchen and she has outgrown it. Emily loves it! She had so much fun playing with it this morning.

This is one of my favorite dresses on Emily. It was my niece Sarah's dress when she was a baby and Michelle is letting me borrow it. I love Emily in blue:

I also love how Emily sleeps with her legs tucked under her. She is such a sweetie pie. She sleeps like this at night also. I couldn't resist getting this picture of her yesterday.

Busy Week

It has been a busy week. I've done some new things this week . . . one that was really fun and one that I thought I would never say that I've done. First for the fun one: Wednesday LeAnn and I met at The Dinner A'fare and prepared meals together. You pay for 12 meals so we each made 6. They have all the ingredients at different stations in the store. You go to the station for the meal that you are going to prepare and follow the directions they have posted at the station. You prepare everything in ziploc bags and then wrap it all up in Saran wrap and place the directions for cooking in the package so it's ready to place in your freezer when you get home. They also give you a sheet that gives you suggested sides to serve with your main dish. LeAnn and I really enjoyed it and I plan on going back again sometime. Joe and I had the Buffalo chicken with blue cheese dressing Friday night. I also prepared Stuffed Chicken with Spinach and Red peppers, Caribbean Tilapia with Coconut Rice, Honey-Vanilla Glazed pork tenderloin, Walnut and cheddar stuffed pork chops, and chicken tetrazzini. Yummy!

Now on to the new experience I wasn't planning on . . . Joe took Bud to the vet on Wednesday for his annual shots and the vet told him Bud REALLY needed to get his teeth cleaned so they ran blood work on him to make sure everything looked o.k. since Bud would have to be under anesthesia and they also needed to get a urine sample, but couldn't because Bud had probably left his mark about 100 times at the front of the vet. So, guess who had to get a urine sample from Bud later that week to take to the vet . . . yes that would be me! They gave us a syringe to get the sample into a small container. So I just waited until he went outside and walked around with him and when he started to go I just placed a small bowl under him . . .what a hoot! Don't worry . . . . I threw the bowl away when I was done. So now I have that on my list of experiences in life!
Bud is scheduled to get his teeth cleaned on Oct 18. We also have to start giving him antibiotics 5 days before they clean his teeth because of the bacteria that has already built up . . . having a dog sure is expensive sometimes. . . .but what can I say . . . we sure do love him!

Today we went to the North Georgia State Fair. This is the third year we've gone with friends from church. We always go on the last day when admission is free and free rides from 10:00 to 11:00. Emily and I rode on the carousel, Joe and I rode the Himalayan and then Tara and I rode the Himalayan (I was dizzy after the 2nd time), and then Jason and I rode the ferris wheel. We got all those rides in by 11:00 so they were all free! We also had our share of fair food: corn dogs, polish dogs, roasted corn, boiled peanuts, and a funnel cake . . . good times!

New Car Seat

We got Emily a new car seat today. She looks like such a big girl in her new seat!
I don't know why, but girlfriend decided to wake up at 5:00 a.m. this morning . . .ahh! She's been sleeping until 7:30 or 8:00 for months and then starting last week she started waking up at 6:00 or 6:30 . . . and then today she woke up at 5:00 . . . whew . . . anyway, I went ahead and fed her and she went back to sleep. I sure do hope she sleeps longer in the morning.

The last two Mondays I've been taking a smocking class. Last Monday we practiced and then tonight we started on a dress. I've tried sewing before and just don't enjoy it . . . but I've really liked smocking so far. The lady that taught the class will put the dresses together for me and I can smock them . . . yea! I'm looking forward to making some dresses for Emily. Here is what I worked on tonight. Hopefully I can post a picture of Emily wearing this dress really soon:

Watching some football

Joe and Emily enjoyed watching some football together yesterday afternoon.

I also got a couple of good pictures of her teeth. She has 6 teeth now that have broken thru.

She is also crawling a lot more now. That girl can get into anything now. She goes straight for the cords in the computer room and knocked over an angel that I had in the living room. We had been putting her humidifier next to her bed when it was unplugged but Joe went to get her from her nap the other day and she had pulled the cord into the bed and was playing with it!
