Back to school
Emily's school started back up today and she was SO READY to go! The first thing she said to me this morning when I went in her room was "go to school today". When we got there she ran down the hall and into her classroom before I had even turned the corner. When I got to the door to sign her in she was busy playing at the train table and didn't even look up to tell me bye!

New Year
We have been enjoying the New Year by being lazy . . . so nice! We think Bud pretty well sums up what we've been doing the last couple of days:
I think the flash woke him up . . . he doesn't look too happy : )
We've been watching movies, running a few errands, and enjoying each other's company. I finished sewing a pair of pants for Emily this afternoon. My sister embroidered her initials on a t-shirt.
I learned how to gather fabric to make a ruffle at the bottom of the pants.
I am going to my first class tomorrow to learn about my sewing machine. When you buy a machine they give you three 2 hour classes to show you everything about it and tomorrow is FINALLY my first class. I'm looking forward to it!
We have discovered if you want Emily to eat something . . . just throw a little dab of ketchup on her plate and she'll eat whatever is in front of her. The other night she wouldn't eat the pork that was on her plate, so I gave her a little ketchup and she ate two whole slices of pork and all of her green beans! She dipped the green beans and ate them like french fries . . . crazy nut. Today she dipped her hotdog, goldfish, and yogurt covered pretzels in ketchup . . . . nice.
We hope you all are enjoying the beginning of your 2009!!!!

Happy New Year!
We can't believe 2008 is almost over! The time has flown by and we are gearing up for Emily's birthday in a few weeks.
We wanted to share our pictures of Christmas with you as we close out the year. We drove to Auburn on Christmas Eve and spent Christmas Day with Joe's family. Emily woke up at 6:30 that morning so we were opening presents as the sun was rising! She LOVED all her toys that she got:

On Friday evening we drove to Birmingham to see my family and stayed at my sister's house. We enjoyed our annual finger food fellowship and Michelle and I enjoyed using her embroidery machine to make Emily some cute tops. I also raided her fabric containers and got enough material to make 3 new pair of pants : )

Sarah got play food for Christmas so here are Emily and Sawyer waiting for their lunch that Sarah is preparing:

When we got home Sunday night we put up our Christmas decorations and loaded a bunch of toys in the attic to make room for all the new Christmas toys and Birthday toys that will be here soon : )

Pretty in Pink
I have lots of Christmas pictures to post and will do that tomorrow to close out 2008 . . . wow!
Today I wanted to show you outfit #3 that I have finished for Emily. I finished making the top last night that goes with the pants I made a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't finish the top until I was at my sister's house to get her to add the embroidered flower on the top. I LOVE these type outfits on little girls! They usually cost between $60 - $70 in a store. I made this one for less than $20:

Dress
I finished making Emily a dress yesterday. I discovered with this pattern that the size 1 is a little small on Emily . . . so I'll make the size 2 next time. I think if I get some nice tights this will look fine. I made button holes for the first time with this pattern. I also discovered that I have a presser foot that will sew on the buttons as well. Yea!!!:

Visit from Santa
Santa called last week and asked if he could drop Emily's gifts off early this year . . . so he dropped by during Emily's nap yesterday afternoon and left her some really fun presents!

and a stroller for her baby dolls. Joe also bought her an Auburn blanket to cover up her baby dolls. She covers them up and has been taking them for walks all last night and this morning:
She got a new kitchen from Santa and some pots and pans from us:
