What's New

Our baby contraptions really need to make it thru Abigail's babyhood . . . but it sure is going to be hard to get them there with this girl in the house:
Emily has been doing really well with her swimming lessons. She jumps off the side of the pool to her teacher and flips to her back to float. Last night she went underwater with her teacher's help to grab some rings at the bottom of the pool! She also goes off a slide into the pool. I signed her up for summer lessons tonight:

Emily's new phrase is "Hey _______ watch this" and then proceeds to do something. She says it to whoever is near her at the time and she says it about a million times a day : ) Wednesday morning she said it to Abigail all the way to school. Abigail was too busy chewing on her linking letters to pay attention though . . .

She has also started participating during the singing at church. This has been so great to watch. The Sunday she started was a few weeks ago when they had a song insert in the church bulletin. Emily knew it was sheet music and held it up during all the songs and sang with us. Joe and I kept that sheet in her church bag and she has used it each week since then. I've been so tempted to pull out my cell phone to take a picture of her because it melts my heart to watch her sing . . .

This past Sunday they had a picture of a cross on one of the slides and Emily spoke up and said, "that's a cwoss . . . that's where Jesus lives . . . Jesus lives on the cwoss". They had a special service for the seniors graduating from high school and had a slide show with pictures of each senior as a baby, child, teenager, and senior picture. When the slide show was over Joe and I both were all teary eyed! We were both thinking about Emily and Abigail graduating one day . . . I'm sure it will be here before we know it!

Transition

Abigail is moving up! I finally took her sleep positioner out of her bed this week and she has enjoyed sleeping on her tummy:
I knew it was time to get rid of it when I came into her room and she had it in her mouth chewing on it : ) Now when she wakes up from a nap she looks so sweet with her swollen eyes and cheeks and sheet marks all over her face . . . I love it!

We also moved Abigail to Emily's car seat and got Emily a new car seat that you can eventually use with the seat belt. My girls looked so big today:
This morning the girls spent some fun time in Abigail's bed. Emily started bouncing around and had Abigail giggling. They were both laughing together. Every time I hear children laughing I always think of my Granny. We would all be running around her house and every time we would run by her in a whirl of laughter and loudness she would always pause what she was doing and say "sweet little children of God". I can still hear her saying it . . .

Time with Friends

This weekend we spent time with the Lyda's. What a nice visit. It was so nice to watch Emily and Riley play together and to enjoy fellowship with our friends.
Abigail enjoyed all the attention April gave her:
On Sunday Emily wore her new dress that DeeDee made her:
and Abigail wore a dress that Aunt Chelle made her. I got this dress at my baby shower . . . and at the time it seemed like it would be so long before Abigail could wear it. Time flies!
. . . and here are some pictures of Emily and Abigail hanging out together. Emily wanted to get in Abigail's bed with her today and watch the mobile:

Outfit

I have been working on an outfit for Abigail and I'm so excited that I was able to make this by myself. I read the directions and made it . . . I even put in a zipper! The only thing I struggled with was the snap tape. I would have put it in differently but I was trying to follow the pattern directions . . . anyway here is a bubble suit for Abigail. This is the first pattern I've ever done where I didn't ask anyone any questions and understood what it was telling me to do! Yea! Emily picked the fabric out so I'm going to make her some shorts to match:

Popsicles

Emily has discovered popsicles from the kids in the neighborhood. So we enjoyed some yesterday:
Abigail enjoyed hanging out with us:
. . . and observing:

She has also discovered that her toes taste just as good as her thumb : )

I've fed her carrots a couple of days in a row. She's still trying to decide what she thinks about all of it:

Bottle

You see this baby right here:
She took a bottle during Sunday school today!!!! Yea!!!! We tried several times when she was younger to take a bottle and she wouldn't take one . . . but today on the way out the door I threw one in just to see if she would let me sit thru class today for the first time in 6 months . . . and she did! The person that keeps the nursery said she guzzled it down. Go Abigail!

She has also starting flipping over on her tummy when she is in her bed. She napped that way today but tonight she got turned over and then got mad and started crying. I had to go get her all situated again to go to sleep : )

This weekend we took it easy. Joe worked and it rained all day Saturday so we hung out in Abigail's room where all the "good toys" are : )
Emily also helped me sew when Abigail was napping. She told me she was making me a dress. She had me try it on and then told me she needed to take a picture so she went to her room to grab her play camera and had me smile and say cheese. I wonder where she got all those ideas from : )

Today we had a nice surprise when two families that used to go to our church were back for a visit. So after services today we enjoyed visiting with them while all our kids played on the play ground.

Week's Activities

This week was spent playing and hanging out. It was nice to relax a little after our yard sale last weekend. We made $140 . . . not bad for our first yard sale ever! My parents came to help us out and I'm so glad they did! It made it so much easier with making sure someone was outside for the yard sale and someone was watching both kiddos. Emily LOVED being outside the whole time and made sure people knew what things she was selling also. We took her to the Dollar store afterwards to get a small reward for helping sell some of her things. She picked out a jump rope and more necklaces.

Last Friday I was working on getting stuff ready for the yard sale and Emily asked me to come to her room to sing some songs to her because she was getting ready to take a nap. When I went in her room this is how I found her:
This has been her play of choice this week. She laid pillows all over the living room and put an animal on each one and covered them with blankets and told me they were taking naps. Right now she is downstairs reading some books and laying on the couch with some covers. She told me she had some reading she had to do before taking her nap. Wish the girl would take a real nap : ) She also got some play fabric I got her and cut some squares out to place on several of her babies so they could take naps.

The other day I was upstairs and she kept hollering from downstairs to tell me that she was a baby. So I went downstairs to investigate and this is how I found her:
Crazy nut! She also discovered all of the toys I pulled out of the attic to get ready for Abigail and has been playing with those toys all week. I told her she was welcome to play with them but had to keep them in Abigail's room. Otherwise the poor girl isn't going to have anything in her room to call her own . . . and Emily's room is starting to get overrun with stuff everywhere : )

On Wednesday, Joe took a day off (they have started working every other Saturday so he is going to take a day off during the week from time to time . . . thankfully!) so we enjoyed some time at the park:

Abigail enjoyed the swings for the first time:
For some reason Emily has stopped going down slides. I don't know why. Joe tried to talk her into going down some but she wouldn't go down them unless he went with her:
She does down our slide at home all the time but won't go down any of them at parks. . . . even the little ones . . . don't know why . . .

Then we went to Emily's swimming lesson. Joe had to stay outside the whole time because the second Emily saw him she started crying for him across the pool area. Once he left she did fine and even floated on her back with the teacher only having 1 finger under her head!!!
Abigail had her 6 month appt on Friday. She weighs 16 pounds 3 oz and is 26 1/2 inches long! She continues to be in the 70-75% for height and weight. The doctor put her on an acid reflux medicine because I told him that she coughs every night. I never would have thought that was due to acid reflux. He said give it a week and see if the coughing stops. If it does then her problem is acid reflux and I should give her the medicine for a couple of months.

She hasn't seemed very interested in her cereal this week so he told me we could start on veggies this week since they have a little more flavor. So we'll see how that goes! Abigail has a head cold right now so she hasn't felt too great . . . so I might wait a couple of days before trying new foods.
