Mother's Day Tea

Emily's teacher gave a wonderful Mother's Day Tea at school.  She decorated the class room and gave us a yummy lunch:

I even made heart shaped sandwiches for the students.  This is not my strength so I was proud of myself:

Each student had a turn to read about their mom:
And they sang songs for us:

They also gave us a framed picture and a card:

Emily's note said: Dear Mom, I love you.  Do you love me?  Yes or No.  Love, Emily

We appreciate Mrs. Reynolds so much.  We sure will miss her:

And we will miss Mrs. Whelan:

Outdoor Fun

A new outdoor swim facility is opening up for the summer.  They offered some swimming lessons so I signed the girls up for 6 lessons.  We do twice a week for 3 weeks.  The girls have LOVED going.  Emily is learning a more proper form of swimming instead of just doggie paddle:

Abigail is just learning how to get used to the water.  They practice swimming and floating on their backs:

They are also practicing jumping off the side of the pool.  Abigail leans over as far as she can to try to hold the teacher's hand before she jumps in:

She even went under water for the first time!

We also bought some new sidewalk chalk so the girls have enjoyed coloring on our driveway:

We met our friends Maddox and Tessa at the park one afternoon after school.  There was a big playground around them and they enjoyed playing in the sewer drain instead : )

We went for dinner after the park:
For the little bit that we have spent indoors, Emily enjoyed playing school one afternoon with her dolls.  Here they are lined up in front of the chalk board:
She even gave them a place to hang their coats:

Visit Cousins

Michelle and her family moved to a new house so we went to visit them for the weekend.

They have a pond in the back so we tried out fishing:

I even caught a fish!  Sam had to help me take it off the hook:

The kids enjoyed catching tadpoles near the water's edge:

Their house is walking distance to the stables where their horse is so Sarah took me, Sawyer, and the girls to see Sadie:
Waiting for Sarah to get Sadie out of the pasture:

 Feeding Sadie a horse treat:

Another horse smelled food and hung out by the gate in hopes of getting a treat:
My brother Robert got a new app on his phone so the adults spent most of the time singing songs into his phone.  I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.  Watching one of our videos:
We had a great time! The kids enjoyed playing together and I enjoyed visiting with my family:

Field Day

On Wednesday Emily's school had Field Day for the Kindergarten classes.  Joe went and participated with her. They had relay races and a jump house.  It started at 8:30 in the morning so it was still pretty chilly out . . . and they served them ice cream at 9:00 a.m.!

Fun projects

There is a new trend going on called rainbow looms and they offer workshops at our local toy store.  So I took Emily one afternoon so she could learn how to make the bracelets:
When we got home she went right to making bracelets for everyone in her class:

I also worked on making these keychains for teacher gifts.  Since I had to buy the hardware in bulk I offered to make them for others and got an order of 16!
Emily also brought home her Dr. Seuss bag to write about her outings with the Cat in the Hat.  Julia and Liliana came over one afternoon to play so Emily included her in her writings:

She wrote about doing homework, playing with her sticker book, going to bed:

playing with friends and eating breakfast with her sister:
