This weekend we painted the nursery. We spent all week last week trying out different colors and FINALLY settled on a bright green on Friday night. Having the samples to buy and try is nice . . . but man . . . we could have bought a gallon of paint after all those samples I kept going back to get. We started with neutral browns, and then some pinks, and then after talking to my brother and emailing him pictures to his phone, we settled on green. I do like the color we settled on.
We realized early on that Joe is much better and faster than me at rolling, so after just a few tries of rolling the primer on, we decided quickly that this was NOT going to be my job : ) I basically taped the room off, cut in on the primer and paint on the bottom sections of the room . . . and Joe basically did the rest. We bought Emily a little brush during one of our many trips to the paint section and she carried that brush around for 3 days! She wanted to make sure she was ready to paint when we gave her the chance. I set her up Saturday morning at her art easel with some of the sample paint and her paint brush:

Here we are all hard at work.

Once Emily got bored with painting she discovered the blue tape roll and kept asking us every 30 seconds for a new strip of tape! So by the end of the morning she had her easel covered in blue tape . . . but hey . . . it kept her busy.
And here are the glorious before and after pics. We wanted to go with a color that could be used as a nursery and then used as a guest room in a couple of years. So I hope you feel bright and cheery in this room if you ever come for a visit to our house!

Here is the bedding I picked out that DeeDee shipped to us . . . it looks so weird to have the crib mattress up high again:

And guess what . . . after spending a little over a week in her big girl bed, guess who came to greet us in our room at 3:00 this morning! I woke up to the sound of little feet running on the floor and then a little head poking over the side of the bed saying, "Hi Mommy" like it was 3 in the afternoon. I told Emily it was still night time and she needed to go back to sleep. She gave this worried look and said, "But my door was open". We always close her door when she first goes to bed but open it up once she's asleep to keep it cool. I guess all the other nights she didn't wake up until morning and when she saw her door open she thought it was time to get up. We both looked out the window together and she saw that it was still dark out and got back in the bed. So no major drama . . . I hope it stays that way : ) She greeted us for the first time on Saturday morning and it was so weird to have a little person climbing in the bed to tell us good morning. She didn't come to our room until 7:45 . . . I can live with that. On Sunday she greeted us at 7:00.
She also opened a door for the first time the other day. If it's a door she can push she seems to be able to do it. But if she has to turn and then pull on the door she can't. She also turned on her own light yesterday morning and then turned it off! My baby is getting so big. I know this seems late for a child her age but she couldn't reach the lights at our old house but can here. I sure do like it since I don't want her hollering at me at the top of the stairs to turn on her room light. My next accomplishment is going to be getting her to put her shoes in her closet and getting them out. She's got to have more practice opening and closing doors. For now her shoes are in her room and she's good about getting them or putting them back.

Love the color. It looks just like the color of Riley's room.
Love the green. Y'all did great. I never roll either. I always cut in the lower part and Nathan has the rolling done and the cutting in at the top before I finish the bottom.
I love the nursery color! It looks like you all had fun working on it.
