Halloween!

On Saturday I got the girls ready to go out to a fall festival. Abigail went as a butterfly and Emily went as Aur@ra:
The girls played while I was getting the rest of the stuff ready to go:
We ate dinner at a friends house and then all went to a fall festival at a nearby church. When we got there it didn't look like much was going on so we drove to a couple of other activities near town . . . we got there too late for both so headed back to our original destination. It looked like it was in better swing this time around so we stayed and the kids had a fun time:
On our way around all the trunk or treating someone handed Abigail some candy and that entertained her the rest of the evening:
Emily had fun running around with Kyle and Sydnee. Their dad loves Batm@n so he chose their costumes this year:
Emily got a pumpkin mask to make at the festival so we made it this afternoon and she had Joe try it on:
This evening we went trick or treating around the neighborhood and Emily had a blast!

Emily enjoying all her loot:
Poor Abigail has a bad cough so we hope the festivities this weekend didn't make her worse. She was a trooper!

Let the Partying Begin!

We are so excited about this weekend! We have Halloween festivities going on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Yesterday we kicked off our activities with a party at Dawn's house. Dawn keeps the girls for me two days a week and they had a party yesterday. Here's a mask they made the day before:
Friday morning Abigail saw a dog on the TV and pointed to it and said, "Do . . . ra ra" which sounded like Dog and barking. . . now I know why. Dawn's dog Maggie sat right next to Abigail and she loved it:
I was also impressed with Emily getting on the trampoline. She used to only get on there by herself and would jump just a little bit, barely enough to make any movement. But yesterday they were all doing cannonballs together:
Waiting for snacks:
They had different activities to try out like painting pumpkins:
and face painting. Dawn's new assistant did the face painting:
Emily asked for a red cat:
I helped at the "pin the tail on the cat" station and finally they had a pinata with candy. Here's Dawn getting everyone in line to have a whack at the pinata:

Emily and Abigail had a fun afternoon!

Supporting our Team

I made these matching dresses for Emily and Abigail in orange and blue . . . to support our favorite team : )

Abigail had her 1 year shots on Monday so she has been a little cranky. So as you can see, she didn't really care for the photo shoot this morning:
I gave her some beads to play with which stopped the crying . . . but I couldn't get the girl to look at the camera : )
Emily liked her dress and has worn it all day at least!

Everything looks fine for Abigail's 1 year checkup. She is 29 inches long and 18 and 1/2 pounds. So she is in the 50 percentile for height and 30 percentile for her weight. She also cut her 5th tooth today!

Boo at the Zoo

On Saturday we went to Boo at the Zoo with my friend Shannon and her son Kyle and daughter Sydnee. The kids dressed up in their costumes and they had stations at the zoo to get candy:
The kids kept their costumes on for about 15 minutes : )

Abigail even got a bag of pretzels . . . and she also managed to lose her bow somewhere along the way so had her hair all in her face:
They also had a maze that Kyle and Emily walked thru:
Kyle was so sweet! He came up to Abigail several times during the day and kissed her on top of her head and said she was so cute.

That evening several of us girls went to dinner together and then headed to a coffee shop and sat and chatted until they closed at 11:30 : ) We had a great time together!

Botanical Gardens

On Friday we went here:
Our friends Rachel, Julia, and Liliana have an annual pass so they got us all in for free. We had never been so this was a nice treat. We couldn't have asked for better weather. It's hard to believe that such beautiful gardens are this close to the concrete jungle in midtown:
The girls had fun walking around and playing mostly while we enjoyed the pretty views.

Best friends:

They had a play area for the kids:
One day soon Abigail, you will be running with them:
There was also a cool bridge that we walked over:
and glass pumpkins around the gardens:
We had a great time together. I think Emily and Julia enjoyed riding together in the car as much as they did spending the day together! The cutest moment for me was when Emily and Julia were in front of Abigail laughing and talking and Emily raised her hands in the air and yelled "surprise" and Abigail put her hands in the air just like her sister and yelled out her version of "surprise". So cute!
