The girls got to go to their first Auburn football game on Saturday. It was Auburn's Homecoming so we went in hopes of getting free tickets. It took us thru first quarter to get tickets, but it worked out great because alot of the people around us left at halftime, so we had plenty of room to enjoy watching the game after that.
We parked off campus and rode the bus to the stadium. Emily was super excited to ride the bus:
At first, the girls and I stayed near the stadium while Joe walked around trying to get tickets . . .
but he wasn't having any luck. I told him he needed to walk around with the girls because people would be more likely to offer tickets to someone trying to get kids in to see a game. So we tried that for a while and Joe even changed to holding up 2 fingers for he and Emily to go. About the time we decided to give up, a guy walked up to Joe and gave him 2 tickets and said enjoy the game. So Abigail and I started walking towards a deli to get a sandwich and as Joe and Emily were walking towards the stadium, a young guy and his girlfriend gave Joe 2 more tickets to get in. So we all got to go!
Cutie Patootie!!!!!!
Pretty good seats . . .
Abigail enjoyed crawling around on the bleachers . . .
It took Emily a while to get comfortable with us being up high. She has inherited her dad's fear of heights so after she excitedly walked up the steps to our seats . . . she wasn't too happy when she turned around and saw the vastness of the stadium. So I had to hold her tight for a while. She got better after watching the band and by 4th quarter she was sitting next to us shaking her shaker and yelling Go Auburn Tigers over and over. I knew if we gave her enough time she would get comfortable. It just takes her a while. Having the extra room once several people left helped a lot.
Emily enjoyed looking for Aubie so we got this picture of him when he came to our side of the stadium:
When we were leaving we ran into my sister's family! We found out that Nathan had managed to get 13 free tickets BEFORE the game started to get his extended family in . . . so Joe and I decided we were walking around with him the next time we want to get into a game : )
After the game we went to the new Arena. They had a display of Aubie:
and the 2010 Championship rings . . .
. . . . the beautiful Championship trophy:
and the He|sman trophy:
We spent the evening with Grandma and then enjoyed going to Homecoming at the church where we used to attend . . .
A very fun weekend!
