Weekend Fun

We had such great weather last week that we went to the park 3 times! On Friday we met our neighbors at a park for lunch:

This was the first time I put Abigail in the stroller without the car seat so she looked so big to me:She even enjoyed a nice nap:
She also loves the seat we bought a couple of months ago. She does well with grabbing objects I give her and loves to chew on them:
I also love that I don't have to put socks on her anymore. Baby feet are so sweet!!!

On Friday evening my friends Bonnie and Rita came for a visit. We enjoyed talking and hanging out together before they headed home Saturday afternoon. This was their first time to meet Abigail. We loved having you girls come visit!!!:

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone!!!!

We had an enjoyable day. We had our friend Jason over for Easter lunch today. April and Riley are in Texas so we were excited Jason could join us. I had decided several weeks ago that I wanted to cook a big lunch for Easter instead of our normal Sunday lunch of hot dogs or sandwiches : ). I cooked a ham, green bean casserole, carrot souffle, deviled eggs, and rolls for lunch and an apple crisp for dessert . . . yummy!
Then Emily talked Jason into going outside to blow bubbles:

Abigail is so close to rolling over from her back to her front so we've been giving her lots of practice on her blanket:
Later this afternoon we went to a park to play and ate supper:

We hope you all had an enjoyable day today as well!

Park

Today I needed to clean bathrooms and dust. So Emily decided to help me. But having a 3 year old want to help you clean the bathroom is a wee bit stressful. I had an elevated blood pressure by the time it was all over : ) At one point Emily was wrapping her arm in a Cl@rox wipe . . . have mercy! So after our chores we went to a park to play:
I put Abigail in a different type sling today and it hurt my back too bad. But Abigail did fine:
Yesterday I made the mistake of taking a nap with Emily. I was SO TIRED yesterday so we napped . . . but then at 10:00 last night Emily had gotten up for the 4th time that night. She finally went to sleep and then was in our room at 5:15 this morning! I put her back in her bed and thankfully she slept until 7:45 . . . so I definitely was reminded why we don't let Emily take naps anymore . . . except on very rare occasions.

So hopefully all the play today will let these girls sleep well tonight:

Socks

This morning I dressed Emily in an A&burn shirt I made. But she saw that Abigail had a sleeper on with pink feet. So she grabbed her pink socks to match her sister's "pink foots". So Emily went to school with her orange and blue shirt, orange and blue bow . . . and pink socks!

Then when I picked her up she told me she wanted her fingernails and toenails painted. So for the first time ever, we painted her fingernails and toenails:

Parties

This weekend we went to Birmingham for Sarah and Sam's birthday party. Sarah is now 8 and Sam is 6!!! I can't believe it. Saturday morning we went to Sam's baseball game:
Emily and Sawyer ate lunch and watched the game:
I missed most of the swim party because Abigail hadn't napped all afternoon and FINALLY fell asleep when it was time to leave for the party. So Joe and Emily went swimming while I stayed at my sister's house to let Abigail get some sleep . . . we showed up for cake time! My sister combined Sarah and Sam's party since she could invite 25 people to swim:

We had a nice weekend together. This morning Emily woke up and asked me if we could go to Aunt Chelle's house today so she could play with "Saw Saw". Sweet girl . . . she loves her cousins.

Swing Time

Yesterday we spent some time outside swinging. I brought Abigail's swing out for her to enjoy the nice weather also:

Abigail's eyes are swollen and gooped up because she's had a head cold this week. I took her to the doctor today to make sure it wasn't an eye infection. . . . it's just a cold and her ears have lots of fluid but no infection. So hopefully she will be feeling better soon.

When we were at the doctor he asked if Emily was about to turn 4. I told him that she had just turned 3 a couple of months ago and he said, "Wow . . . her vocabulary is so big for a 3 year old." Go Emily!

Today Emily wanted to feed her giraffe the red berries off our bush in the front yard:
She has also discovered the joy of smushing the berries in the driveway . . . so our driveway is looking really groovy now. This girl is so busy all the time!

Sewing

Today Emily and I spent time together sewing. I worked on a pair of shorts for Abigail (which turned out to be more like capris) and Emily cut fabric strips with her scissors. She also would hand me pens when I needed to pen things together. It was fun "hanging out" with her today.
Here's what the room looked like at the end of the afternoon . . .
. . . and she did cut a small part of the bottom of her pants which resulted in the scissors going to time out . . .

But I got Abigail's shorts done. I finished Emily's t-shirt dress last week:
A good day spent together for a dreary cold and rainy day.
