Matchy Match

First of all we want to wish Joe's mom a very Happy Birthday! Her birthday was on Sunday and we hope you had a great one!!!

Yesterday at church we decided to be the ultimate nerds and all match for church. It started out as an accident with me dressing Emily in the same color as my sweater. When Joe saw us he said, "well should I put on my dark red shirt?" . . . and I said, "sure . . . we can be the matchy match nerd family" . . . and he did. I got April to take a picture of us yesterday . . . in front of matching curtains in our Sunday school class : )
This morning Emily "helped" me sort the laundry. As you can see my two piles of clothes are getting mixed together. Usually when I sort the laundry, I have to go find bits and pieces of it strewn all over the house as Emily considers sorting to take up the whole area of the house . . . today she decided it was more fun to just roll around in it:
I never got the chance to blog about this last week . . . but we put Emily in her first official time out last week. I had considered trying it several times last week in situations where Emily would not obey what I was telling her to do . . . but I never got to an official, "o.k. I'm going to do this" state. But one night at dinner (and I'm SO GLAD Joe was here when I did it), Emily kept banging her hands on the kitchen table and Joe asked her to stop and she just kept on doing it. So we decided to give it a go. I turned the little chair that is beside our china cabinet to face the wall and told her she had to sit there in "time out" for 1 minute. We had no idea what she was going to do because we had never done that before. That sweet baby girl just sat there with her hands beside her and didn't move or say a word! I felt horrible!!!!!!! She still had her bib on from dinner . . . what a sight to break a parent's heart!!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!! After a minute I went to her and told her that she could sit at the table with us but she could not bang on the table anymore. She said "ok" in the sweetest little voice . . . oh my. It took me 2 days to get that image out of my head. I'm sure future time outs won't be like that . . . but oh my goodness.

We have discovered that Emily loves to "walk away" in stores which means walk around. So Friday night we walked around the mall and Saturday night we walked around IK%A "eye-key-a" (I don't like to post store names on here). She had so much fun! We bought her birthday present there which is an art easel with a chalk board on one side and a dry erase board on the other. It's so nice to be able to buy her gifts while she is with us. She also wanted to sit in every chair that we walked by!

Most people sort light, darks, colors. Looks like you have a load of PINK.
